HaitiAidMap from InterActionHaitiAidMap from InterAction(Note: This is a weekly round-up of NTEN members doing and sharingtheir nptech awesome. Members are in bold. Tag your own news with "nten member" or "nptech" to help us find your awesome online, or contact Annaliese with your updates.)

I noticed that this post from Beth Kanter was re-tweeted quite a bit yesterday, so I think it qualifies for nptech awesome online. She addresses the "time suck" argument and fear for nonprofits investing in social media. What I love about Beth Kanter's blog is that she always provides a great mix of theory and practice for us all: read this post for enlightenment and for some practical tools and tips to manage your organization's online engagement.

You know how we love us some data visualization around here, especially mapping, so we were pretty excited to see InterAction's pilot mapping project Haitiaidmap.org. It's a demonstration of the the work that over 40 organizations have and are doing in Haiti. Among the organizations sharing their data are many NTEN members, including American Jewish World Service, American Friends Service Committee, American Red Cross, AmeriCares, American Refugee Committee, Mercy Corps, Oxfam America, and others. You should see the projects and stories here, and you can also participate in the project

Lindy Dryer wants to help y'all become Word-of-Mouth Supergenius rockstars, so she figured out a way to get you a discount on the upcoming WOM Supergenius event in NYC on July 20. Read this blog post for the details.

Britt Bravo is hosting the Nonprofit Blog Carnival this month, and she selected a juicy topic: how do you create a juicy nonprofit blog? If you've got ideas, examples, or thoughts on this, mosey on over to Britt's post to find out how to participate in the meme.

Birgit Pauli-Haack provides a great round-up of notes and resources she took-away from the NCTech4Good conference in Chapel Hill at the end of last month. (Also mentioned in the article are NTEN members Kivi Leroux Miller and Nancy Shoemaker.)

Michael Hoffman tackles the question of ROI for your nonprofit's use of videos

Speaking of Michael Hoffman's nptech awesomeness, he will be a featured speaker, along with Sara Fusco of Refugees International, at the July 21 NYC 501 Tech Club, where the topic will be "Beyond Viral Video: Crafting a Nonprofit Video Strategy."

Finally, NTEN members are invited to participate in the "Share it Forward" initiative that IdeaEncore is hosting via their nonprofit resource sharing platform. July's share topic for us NTENers is technology-related employee policies: from social media to hardware, please share your examples and best practices with other nonprofits. Share documents or links on IdeaEncore, and use keywords "NTEN" and "NPTech Employee Policies" to help us find and share them back with everyone easily.
